Redefining Beauty

I just LOVE seeing more and more magazines 'getting real' about capturing 'Beauty'. The Verily magazine featured by Upworth here has the following policy about Photoshop  "we firmly believe that the unique features of women ~ be it crows feet, freckles or a less than rock hard body ~ contribute to their beauty and therefore should not be removed or changed".

I struggled for so many years defining beauty and my own self worth from what I saw in magazines, in the media and by the appearance of the most popular girls in high-school, college and my career ... plagued by challenging skin conditions that affected my outer self I had over time convinced myself I could not attain 'beauty' and as a result I gave up on having any sense of self image or  style and hide behind frumpy clothes, no make up and no sense of self ~ until recently when I found the joy of self reflection and empowered myself with healing from the inside out and changed my way of thinking and defining 'beauty' .... I AM BEAUTIFUL!

I know now in hindsight I always have been, the people who loved me as a child, a youth and a young women have always seen it even when I myself could not ~ I thought they humored me because they 'had to' but the reality is they saw in me what I could not at the time see in myself ~ the power of my inner beauty shining out!

Beauty starts from within and no amount of 'Photoshop' can help that ~ when you start by empowering and loving your inner Diva than she can easily shine and highlight your beautiful outer Diva in all her glory ... love yourself first and foremost and that love builds and overflows into your love for others who will see your beauty as a result!

Empowering moments

If you'd told me a year ago I would be a 'beauty consultant' I would have snickered and told you ya right ~ I am so not a girly girl whose into make up or fashion or color or anything 'beauty' related. 

I had gave up on being able to do any of that decades ago with my problem skin any make up itched and burned so wasn't something I wore unless I felt I had to for a special occasion. My clothes choices were about 'comfortable and hiding my skin' verses 'fashion' because most  clothes if they touched my skin would itch and scratch. This was my life and I was resigned to that ... IMO it wasn't beautiful but it was functional.

If you had told me I would also be confidentially standing on a stage in front of 100's of women speaking passionately while sharing my story about how Aloette has changed my life in the past two months, how it has started a healing process for my severally damaged skin and has returned a confidence inside myself that I had long since suppressed due to poor self esteem from the appearance of my skin ~ I would not just have snickered I would have rolled on the floor laughing out loud ... ROFLOL as the kids say!

Being the 'centre' of attention has never been a desire for me and don't get me wrong I am totally outspoken about things that are passionate to me but I  have always done it best 'behind a screen or behind the scenes'. 

I do not like speaking in front of groups of people I do not know well ~ my stomach gets in knots, I get sweaty, feel like I am going to pass out and often have to bite the inside of my cheek to prevent that from actually happening.

Let alone to speak in a large group setting on a stage using a microphone under bright lights in front of powerful, inspiring, strong leaders in the company .... yet here I am scratching that off my bucket list ~ conquering the fear of public speaking on the big stage!
 

Not only did I do it, I think I did it confidentially and I LOVED IT ... it was empowering, energizing and enlightening!

One day I want to not only be standing on the stage again in front of our Franchise I want to be standing on the stage in front of ALL of Aloette at National conference ~ like the other powerful, inspiring, strong leaders in Aloette spreading empowerment and making a difference in the lives of women around North America!

I have tasted the internal and spiritual energy that stage brings and it was sweet and sensational and I want MORE. Not only do I want more for myself but I want to bring  along other women up there with me who never thought they would have the confidence in themselves to do it ... I believe when we empower each other we change the world ~ we make it better, bright, more beautiful!

Almost time for me to take my January photos so I have been reflecting back on my progress again and just amazes me how much healing I have finally seen ~ 30 plus years of struggling and to find such a simple and natural solution free of side affects just melts my heart ~ want to shout it from the roof tops so others out there do not suffer needlessly!

Seeing is Believing

Ok this is not easy for me to share ~ however as a visual learning I believe that seeing is believing so I am sucking up my vanity and going to share some before pictures of my skin to help you see why I am loving my Aloette products so much and wanting them to share the benefits with you all. 

I have suffered with cystic acne and psoriasis for almost 30 years of my life. As a teenager and young women, who sadly like others felt her self worth was attached to how she looked on the outside, I admit that I tried just about everything out there to find something that would WORK to make my skin normal and beautiful like other women's.  I believed no one could possibly love me with my ugly skin and as a result I did not really 'love' myself either.

Dermatologist after dermatologist visit, prescription after prescription and eventually because I just could not afford the 'medications' myself even consenting to be a guinea pig in blind study testing of new pharmaceutical treatments for both acne and psoriasis not knowing if I was getting the drug or being the placebo test group or what the human side effects of these drugs were gong to be . Some of these 'treatment's caused my skin to burn, or nasty additional side effects worse than the psoriasis itself. 

As I approached 30 and was faced with other health challenges and my own mortality and how short life can be I began to reflect on what was important in life I decided that it was time to accept that the treatments I was seeking in my vanity to 'look' like everyone else were what was putting my heath at risk and that it was time to love myself enough to stop and invest in my heath.

I decided that my best focus should be on developing my 'inner self' and let go of my vanity that what I looked like on the outside should matter and seriously questioning that the 'pharmaceutical' industry was interested in truly HEALING my skin at all as everything I ever tried made it worse and years later proved to have deadly side effects  causing class action lawsuits in the States! I began seeking ways to be healthy on the inside and worried less about what I looked like on the outside so my goal for my skin became to find a solution that stopped making it 'worse' instead of seeking ways to make it normal ... I was content to just maintain the status quo of my skin as long as it was not making it more painful or making me sick.

So here are some photos of my skin prior to being introduced to Aloette. For my facial skin care I was able to find an imported product through my hair salon that featured an organic natural cleanser, toner and moisturizer option that managed my cystic acne without any harmful chemicals. Although sadly it did little to help with the psoriasis on my forehead / nose which continued to plague me. 

My main skin care routine consisted of using my Enjo spa package to cleanse my skin with its pore deep fibres, I still love my Enjo and highly recommend it to others I combined that with using Coconut oil to keep my skin moist and minimizes the pain, For years this helped to maintain my skin as seen here in the photos and I was content with the status quo ... my skin was not beautiful but the products I was using were not making me sick and they were not making the psoriasis 'worse'. My psoriasis covered about 80% of my body at this point ... with patches on my forehead, in and behind my ears, on my nose and chin as well as majority of my chest, arms and legs.

As you can see by these before pictures for whatever reason my break outs of psoriasis have always been 'even' if I get a patch on the right side of my body a patch on the left side will show up ~ I share this so you can see lower down the difference I saw with using Aloette on only 'one side' of my body and the vast improvement compared to it's counter part.

In spring of 2013 I found out that my favorite 'facial' skin care line was going to no longer be available in Canada ... I stocked up on the last of what my supplier had in her shop and in Fall of 2013 I began to run out and in panic began searching for alternative solutions ... I met Jennifer Zehr and she offered to come and give me a free facial and let me try the Aloette products. 

I honestly felt an almost immediate 'relief' in my skin after just one treatment it was truly cathartic feeling after so long of everything I tired 'hurting/stinging' me. As a result I bought the skin care line and a couple add on products including the Body Butter Balm and Visible Aid.

My first two weeks I decided to 'experiment' because while my skin 'felt' better I wanted to see just how well these products were actually working in comparison. 

Here are some current pictures after almost 8 weeks using the products with the one side have 6 weeks only ... they still represent the 'difference' I saw where for the first two weeks I decided to only treat 'half' of my body with the visible aid and nutri-hydrating mist as well as the Body Butter Balm and the other half of my body I continued with my standard regime of just my Enjo cloth and coconut oil. The improvement and healing was so very noticeable for me I was so excited to try to 'catch' up my other side of my body!
